Email Without the Nonsense
Hi. I'm John and I hate getting email more than most of you. If you are like me, you never sign up for junk like this.
Shedletsky.com Email Policy
No news, no email.
If there are no new posts or worthwhile updates, I will not send you an email at all. I will not manufacture a digest just to fill a schedule.
I write the emails.
Emails are excerpts from new blog posts written by me, not an AI, or ad hoc messages written by me, possibly with spelling mistakes. Software may bundle, format, schedule, and deliver my writing. It does not generate the editorial message. No automated clanker-authored spam.
You pick how often.
You choose the most often content email may arrive: as things happen, weekly, monthly, or major announcements only. That is a ceiling, not a schedule I need to fill. It applies across all the topics you follow together.
Password resets don't count.
Your limit applies to posts, projects, and announcements. Outside it, I only send messages you request or messages genuinely needed to operate or secure your account, such as email confirmations, password resets, account recovery, and real security notices. An update or promotion will never dress up as account mail.
No ads. No paid placements.
Shedletsky.com does not sell ads, sell or rent its subscriber list, or do paid product placement. I expect 99% of updates to be non-commercial. I might ship a paid Steam game or another paid thing someday; if an email is about something you can buy, it will say so plainly.
Just boring delivery stats.
Your address is used for this subscription and, if you have one, your account. It is shared only with service providers needed to operate the site and deliver email. Those systems record delivery, bounces, opens, and link clicks. I use that information to keep mail working and to see whether the email and its frequency are actually useful, not to build an advertising profile.
You can always escape.
Every content email ends with the same Email Controls panel. It shows your current delivery limit and topics, with links to send less email, pause for 90 days, manage everything, unsubscribe, and read this page. You do not need to log in. The panel is supplied by the delivery system, not written into each message by hand.
Existing subscribers are never silently moved to a higher frequency. You can leave whenever you want, and the unsubscribe link is in every content email.
hey boomer who is the squid guy
That's Admiral Ackbar. He's a Mon Calamari, not a squid, and one of history's foremost experts on suspicious user interfaces. He is here in an advisory capacity.
