Because we played Magic until 4 am.

Brendan, Doug, Mike, Can Sar, Seantime, and I played Magic until 4 am. It was great. I had pulled out a bunch of the old school Revised cards and made “booster packs” of 1 rare, 3 uncommons, and 11 commons each. We drafted three each and made decks. I’m writing this two weeks after the fact, so I’ll just relay the highlights:
Seantime came to play with us, which was awesome because Seantime is pretty cool and he also knows the rules better than the rest of us did.
Stupidly, we let Mike get all the good blue cards, as no one else was playing that color.
Can Sar drafted a Shivan Dragon, but then proceeded to make a deck with only that and two other creatures…
Doug built a pretty tough deck red deck (and splashed black to include a Royal Assassin). He got two Walls of Stone and three Lightning Bolts. We discovered that the walls were particularly good in the format we were playing.
I built a white/black weenie deck that was probably the fastest of all the decks built. However, it had no staying power and got trounced in chaos magic despite having 3 Terrors and 2 Swords to Plowshares.
We will probably play again once school starts up again.
Brendan suggested adding cards from other sets to the mix. I was lucky to be able to put together a near-complete Revised set that I didn’t mind shuffling without sleeves, but I’m not sure I could put together a play set from any other expansion that was close to being complete. Maybe rather than using one other set, I’ll put together a grab bag draft pool spanning Magic’s 30-some expansions. That would probably lead to some interesting draft decisions.
Sorry about leaving a mess Doug.
